REDUCED - MA Studio 20SE cherry

    Now £700 + delivery

Finally brought myself to do it :(

A chance to own this classic speaker, that many consider superior to the current model.

For those not familiar, these speakers have an awsome sound, sweet top end, detailed mid with a serously fast, deep base. They have an almost electrostatic presentation (which is what I've replaced them with). There are quite a few owners on here, look at peoples sig for a clue, and ask their opinions.

Any dem inspection welcome (Yorkshire), good condition with just a couple of very minor cosmetic wounds which I am more than happy to e-mail pictures of to any interested party. Comes with spikes, I had some black granite plynths made for these which you are also welcome to.

Think I still have the original boxes, but if not will be very well wrapped.

I'm asking £750 (+delivery) which is less than a pair vastly inferior Silvers.

Possible dellivery or meet part way.

    Hello rsand,

I'm really interested in these speakers.

I would like to know if you are interested in my new condition Simaudio Moon Eclipse as a part exchange for your MA's.

    http://zerogain.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7731

As you might already notested I'm asking £3,150 for the Eclipse, so I can let it go for (£3,150 - £750 =) £2400 and take your MA's.

    What do you say?

Ok rsand! I've got a very good condition MF A1000 that might be just what you need and which I can trade for the MA's.

The MF A1000 is a tranny integrated with separeted PS (just like the nu-vista M3, actually I traded in my nu-vista m3 for the A1000) with 50W in class A and a sound best described as "valve sound" (a Tim de Paravicini design). Do yourself a search.

I've got the original box and manuals.

    What do you say?

BerylliumDust, the A1000 is/was a great sounding/looking amp but it would have to be valves to sway me from my current NuVista M3 which is sounding fabulous with the ESL's after much effort.

    No sweat, rsand!

I don't know if you ever had the chance to do an A/B comparision between the m3 and the A1000 or if you ever had listen to the A1000... but they do sound substantially different. The A1000 is considered to be the best MF's amp ever. (nu-vista m3 is dull and bright in comparision...)

If it is a "valve sound" that you crave for I think the A1000 is the right amp to go with the QUADs, with the added benefit of some real slam. Everybody that knows it describes it as the best "valve soundig" tranny amp.

Remember, Tim de Paravicini is a topologist. He doesn't believe in using valves or trannys (or any other device for that matter) in order to get a "specific sound". He can do it either with valves or trannys. The only reason he's using valves is marketing (as himself admitted once) and because he has specialized in doing very good output transformers from his early days in the business (actually, it was how he get started).

Don't take me wrong here, I'm just showing to you how much I like those MA's...

    Do we have a deal?

I have heared the A1000 and it is a nice sounding amp but I didn't buy it then and don't want to replace the m3 with it now.
I understand you want these speakers I have been torn between them and the quad 988's for the last 2 weeks. I was surprised to find the 988's show no more detail than the 20s, they do have a little more air, but the 20's have that clean fast deep base that the 988's can't match, but are not too far behind unlike the 63's.

Well, you've left me with no options, rsand!

I have too much equipment right now to spend more money without selling, part exchange or trade some, no matter how much I like those MA's of yours.

I will make you another offer, though:

£2000 for the Simaudio Moon Eclipse and I will take the MA's.

    Any luck?

Just dont have spare funds (jan tax bill etc) at the moment. I am pretty fond of my copland 288 and the eclipse could be a bit forward in my system.

    Are you tempting me?

Sure you don't want my MF A1000 for trade, or the Moon Eclipse as a partial exchange for £1950?

Man, I really like those speakers...
