How do you get Mac to discover new hardware? I've installed a Creative Labs sound card and power it back on but it hasn't picked it up.

Have you installed the drivers? Certainly with my Tascam US-122 the procedure is to install the driver software first then plug it in to the USB socket.

No, I haven't. I thought that since the card is as common as muck the Mac may have drivers included in the build.

I'll search for drivers and installation procedure then.

    Thanks Tony.

No, it's a standard PCI card that I previously had in a PC running SuSE. I rebuilt the SuSE machine and put a Terratec card in there so had the Creative Labs one going spare.

I've looked at Creative web site and they don't seem to mention Macs at all. Guess I was being a tad naive. Never mind, seemed like a good idea at the time.

Yea, sorry, if its not for mac its not compatible.

What are you trying to achieve? Or were you just experimenting?

Just experimenting. I was just trying to make use of a spare soundcard. My usual computer runs ubuntu, which I'm happy with.

Thanks peez, but as mentioned above the card wasn't designed for Mac. It's a standard PCI sound card for PCs. Mac support people at work have also told me that it won't work.
