5.6 meters. £10 plus postage at cost.

Easy to make. Simply cut to length, clamp a ferrite or two at the ends and fit plugs.
    See the article at http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/merlino.html

The bare mains cable is gone.
But I will have two ready made mains cables for sale in a couple of weeks.
They are made using the following components and have had natural burn-ins for over 400 hours. :D

I have two of these fully built and ready to use for sale, using materials shown above.

One for amps with large ferrite for amps and another one with small ferrites for CDP/sources. They are both burnt in naturally for over 400 hours. :D

BlueMax - did you use the CY or the SY cable that RS sell?

    Pictures below:
    SY:

    CY:

Just asking because your picture (and the pic used in the TNT site) is a pic of the SY cable but they say you should use the CY one.

The CY one has a tinned copper sheilding braid surrounding the 3 conductors and then a PVC sheath whereas the SY cable has a PVC sheath and then a steel braid, and then a clear PVC sheath. I would imagine that the steel braid of the SY wouldn't be as effective as a sheild compared to the copper braid of the CY.

Also, noticed that RS only sells the cable in 50m lengths  . You don't still have some shorter lengths available do you?

    Michael.

Looks as if TNT made a mixup there.
RS sells them only in 50 meters as you say. But I was lucky to find a forum member who shared the reel with me.
    :)

BM - what price are you asking for the made up cables?

I would be particularly interested in a TNT Snake (plaited cable) if you fancy burning the midnight oil.
    Cheers

    Greg..
I haven't tried it but three Merlino cables will be far too large to plait together.

TNT TripleT use 2-core cables with much smaller O/D such as the Pirelli Screenflex S2. But this cable is no longer available from what I have heard.

Yep I tried tracking down the Pirelli S2 - no Pirelli resellers had even heard of it. They kept trying to sell me a set of four P1's whatever they were? :)

    Set of four Pirelli P1s?
Since they did not have the cable you want, they tried to sell you a set of tyres?!

    :D

If you guys want to use it as speaker cable, its quite passable at that 2, it's what I used to make that £20 3m bi-wire set I used at Cookiemonsters bake off last year, no nasties, just full and rounded bass, for the cash make a fair stab at being a speaker cable. Wm

I got this email from Zerogain.

    Hello BlueMax,

Wingnut has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Mains Cable - in the Buy & Sell forum of ZeroGain.

    This thread is located at:
    https://www.audio-forums.com/as-rediect/showthread.php?t=3660&goto=newpost

Here is the message that has just been posted:
    ***************
Bluemax, TNT recommend that the cable shield is connected to the earth pin of the plug. Try as I might, I can't get the earth cable and the shield into the the hole in the earth pin. Any tips?
    ***************

But no sign of post by 'wingnut'
    Anyway, the answer is:
You are right, it is impossible to fit the the earth core and the screening into the hole. Most of the screening need to be trimmed off. Just a few strands is all that is required to provide a drain. Make sure to insulate these strands to prevent them making contact with live or neutral.
