Just got his album 'Walk in the woods' or summit.

I'd say it's one of the best albums I've heard from last year (easily up there with Arcade Fire).

He's one of the guys from Arab Strap, the wierd Glaswegian band. I've never been able to get into them, but Walk in the woods is great.

(MO, you'd like them, going on your previous tastes).

    Has anyone else heard him?

I like Malcolm's work but do prefer Adrian Moffat's - his partner in Arab Strap . As for the band itself, try Philophobia - if you don't like that , you won't like anything by them.

I didn't know about Adrian Moffat's solo career, will have a look out for him. Also I see that Philophobia is 7 quid in Fopp - it's in the to get list. All I need now is a bottle of buckfast!

    Cheers,

Hmm. Not sure about that. Philophobia is the only Arab Strap album I don't like. I'd recommend the Mad For Sadness live set (proper rhythm section makes a huge difference) and The Week Never Starts Around Here - provided you skip the annoying LoFi 'singing in the bath' type interludes. It's all pretty scuzzy tho. Middleton's a top guitarist though.

Hi Nils. I'm very fond of Arab Strap (do a forum search) and have quite a bit of there stuff. I'll have to pick up Walk in the woods.

Ah beg pardon, its called 'Into the Woods' and its Falkirk they're from, not Glasgow. Will have to lay low now. :)
