And by a handsome margin too, congrats. And only natural too. As a Froggyland national I'm not the best person to give English lessons :)

Someone who mourns Setright's passing should gravitate to 'indubitably' naturally.

Just as wrong as I like after a few glasses of surprisingly mediocre New Zealand Pinot Noir :)
BTW, now I have your attention Sir G, what is the significance of Gottingen in the song?

    You mean Barbara's song?

Apparently she performed in a small theater in the German town Göttingen at the beginning of her career, and that's where she wrote the song. It apparently was later understood by some as a Franco-German reconciliation hymn.

Thank you for that. Yes, it is the Barbara song. I also thought it was some kind reconciliation/ european integration thing, but then again, it is Barbara, and she was the most personal and intimate of singers.
    Barbara is wonderful.
NP: The very wonderful Poème Harmonique "j'ai vu le loup, le renard danser" so one for fox. Superb stuff on my fave jazz-baroque label.

No, but their owners put their systems on Mana, for an obvious reason.

Why not let the JW/fox feud thing quietly drop? It would be a lot more dignified.

Excuse me, but it is you who brings up the laughable notion of a "feud" -- usually whenever your belief is challenged ;)

EDIT: Anyway I'm waiting to see how well you manage to weasel out of the inconsistancy Mo has pointed out...

Well I never went too far with the whole support thingy. I bought a Mission Isoplat and a Target (remember them) steel rack years ago.

The rack is now rusting away in a mates garage and the Isoplat sits under my PC (the plastic cups on the feet make it glide on carpet a treat).

Went to a small Habitat table in the end. Works a treat, though I have seen a fantastic black glass square cube style table that would be perfect for my Meridian gear in House of Fraser!

Has anyone bought JW's tt or record collection which were or are up for sale? Both look very tempting.

I only bought Mana stands because they were solid and supported my equipment. Both my wife and I like the 'styling' and they do the job. Never been swayed by the various claims.

Taking of which I have just started legal proceedings against Mana Audio Ltd using the on line claims service https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp . It only takes about 10 minutes, £80 and eight easy steps, but worth remembering if any of you find yourselves in a similar situation in the future. It was brought to my attention by someone else who has problems with the same company. Not sure it will do any good but there was a certain amount of satisfaction gained from hitting the 'submit' button!

Are we absolutely certain that Mana have 'gone bust'? There's no mention of it on their forum.

No one is suggesting they have 'gone bust', just they have taken orders and money but not delivered anything. No response to phone calls, letters or emails. I really hope they will get over this and then maybe I will get my money back.

The online system is good, Ive just 'won' a claim against a customer for £1100, if the monthly installments actually come through is another matter.

    Heuer,

Why not give JW a ring and speak to him?

I've just been talking to a guy who's quite close to him and I've been informed that it's business as usual at Mana, apart from a few glitches in obtaining the right kind iof non-magnetic stainless steel. As for the rumours regarding the sale of JW's LP12 and record collection, the truth is he hardly plays it these days and the record collection is taking up an entire room of his house that could otherwise be used as a dining room. This is a fact that could be confirmed by anyone who's ever visited his house.

Back in early June 2001 I placed an order for a 4-tier Quadraspire Reference rack. It turned up at the end of August. In October that year they discovered that if you cut holes in the shelves it sounded even better. I was not amused until I learnt they were offering a straight swap of full shelves for holed ones. You just had to pay the retail price difference of a tenner per shelf. I duly coughed up my fifty quid for four shelves plus the base and waited. In March 2002 I went, fuming, to Simon, the Quadraspire rep at the Bristol hi-fi show and I asked him in front of a few prospective customers,

    "Where are my bog seats?"

He said something to the effect of next week and I replied to the effect of oh yeah?!

They turned up two weeks later in April.

Some things are just worth waiting for.
