    Who's going?

At least this year we know to fully specify WHICH bar we're to meet in!

I was considering going but last years was frankly crap.

Out of nearly 40 exhibitors only 4 rooms were interesting and only one of those really stood out with what I'd call a very good setup - which was the MBL £100,000+ setup BTW. The other OK ones were the a JBL Array setup, Dali Megalines and the SIM2 home theater room using M&K speakers and a 3-chip DLP.

I'm betting its the same old dreary stuff they wheel out every year like Focal, B&W, KEF, McIntosh, yawn, yawn ,yawn... honestly I wonder just why they bother.

There's some fucking weirdo's at these places too and that's the worst part. I'm not sure if its the 'in' thing with a small group of audiophiles but when you sit down to listen and suddenly realise your next to someone that smells like a cheese and onion sandwich... well the last thing your interested in is listening.

Think we'll save the petrol money, buy a DVD and stop in this year.

I won't be going because I was put off last year when, having just enjoyed a delicious cheese and onion barmcake, I sat down in one of the dem rooms and got the most frightful looks from a weirdo next to me smelling like a Parisien bordello.

The cheese and onion bit was an inference towards bad body odour. There's no excuse for that other than plain bad hygiene.

Get a can of Lynx or something next time.

The only show I have been to was many years ago in the last drop village near Bolton. It was a disappointing day to say the least. Out of all of the big hitters, not one sounded any where near their asking prices, and the best of the show by far was a very modest system made by revolver. I do hope things have improved since then.

I'd be very surprised if you didn't hear a room that was good ...but you have to alter you perceptions and only consider how the room sound at the venue rather than think this doesn't sound as good as ...my system, my mates system etc.

I'll have to try and get this year

I think I will email roy at Chester group and get him to stock up on Air freshner and perhaps get some perfume testers in the foyer to spray everyone as they come in.

I might as well go although I shouldn't as I have spent £500 on gadgets in the last two months.
