Will the 85 model not have a remote control sensor though? This remote control worked with my parents old Midi sized Sony CD Player from 1987. It has all philips CODEs from day one, so if that CD Player has a remote sensor this remote control will work.

This Sony had no remote control which came with it, it didn't even have a visible sensor but when you took the LCD cover of you could see the sensor and the fact the LCD cover was a violet opaque colour probably also gave the came away.
