    Yep.
Must admit, Bass is much better in the room below. All i need is the mid treble from upstairs and bass from downstairs, all in one room. Sorted!

They are big sounding speakers. Hope you like them. Give them some time. You might want to play around with the speaker/floor interface as well to get the best out of them.

can somebody give me some tips on getting these Kestrel Hot Rods to work :( they sound closed in, distant and bass heavy. they look great tho! :D

they are over 2ft out from the back wall but sort of in alcoves either side of the fire place ( see pic of room - please excuse the mess, we only been moved in a week when the pic was taken!)

Get them out of the alcoves.
Tried that with mine, and yes, way way to much bass.

they are over two foot from that back wall, i can see the back of the speakers when i sit on that leather chair by the JM lab boxes! i cant fetch them out any further or i will be able to put my feet on them and we would have to walk behind them to walk thro the room! :D

i have them heavily toed in now to try and liven the Mid & treble up a bit but they still sound very wrong.

i have mine levelled on new dead straight stainless steel spikes onto granite bases with felt pads under each corner.

tried plugging the ports loosely with some fluffy socks, just robs them of the good qualities that the bass has.

could this honestly just be as a result of needing running in after a not being used for a couple of years? i will stick with them for a week or so and see if i have any luck.

I had mine level with the front of the alcove, so hardly in the alcove. Was still bad tho.

right i have moved them a further 4" out and there is huge improvement, quite strange really. the mid and treble has opened up considerably. bass is still a tad `whumpy' but a lot closer to what i am after. cant believe 4" could change the balance so much. the missus hasnt said anything yet either :)

I'm glad, I've been wondering how to tell the missus her frock needs to go back......

I found just an inch makes a big difference

Just seen this thread but thought I'd add that my Coherent modded Blue Heron II's benefitted greatly from giving them a good thrashing every month or so by turning the wick up to really loosen up the drivers - even when I did they never lost their control - the just sounded bloomin' loud but bloomin' great :D I never listen to my speakers at loud volumes in day to day use though so YMMV :)
