Looks like Meadowlark have shut up shop. They're in default on a series of loans, and the owner can't be contacted. Looks like he's done a runner. :(

Sad news indeed. Mind you I was really worried, I thought you meant your ML's were no more

Quality and commercial success are not always (or even usually) natural bed fellows. But hey, dont let having a balanced view get in the way of a jibe, eh?

I expect they will be taken over by another company - with the following that ML have in the states and canada it shouldnt take long.

I also heard mutterings in the av press that they were launching their HT 5.1 setup into the UK market!

Surely a US company would be looking at exporting to europe/UK at the current dollar rate?

It's a terrible shame. Queues of mourners waiting for hours in the hot Roman sunshine, to pay their last respects.

Ah, sorry, wrong story. Meadowlark - who they?

Whilst not wanting to pick sides, I would comment ML are be off the beaten path and thus anathema to James as a result. But to deride them without having heard them seems silly.

The "market" would appear to have taken a different viewpoint?

Marketing is but one piece of the puzzle - albeit a vital one if trading is likely to be ongoing which clearly it isnt in the case of ML.

However, from what I understand, it might be their (ML's) long run in time which caused a significant number of people to return them before they started to sing. Certainly several on this forum have obtained a nearly new bargain as a result of this issue and there appears to be a consistent tale of wonderful results after an extended and unimpressive run-in.

Possible. Alternatively, it could be that they aren't very good*.

Being off the beaten track/unheard of isn't a bad thing necessarily. But outstanding products usually become very well-known.

*in comparison with rivals at similar price points.

Is it lack of sales causing the lack of funds to pay bills, or is it embezelment?

the fact that the honcho is 'unavailable' i'd speculate the latter.
however as bub is so fond of saying - if you haven't heard something in your own or a very familiar system then commenting is a waste of breath.
    cheers

I guess any company that uses Playboy as its main marketing tool - in an issue which mistakenly claims that Paris Hilton is sexy, let alone the world's sexiest woman - deserves to go under.
