    ..over at HFC. I quote:

"My first proper separates system (I'm so proud )

    Marantz CD-63 SE CD player

    JVC JA-S10 amp

B&O Beovox X25 speakers on Gale spikes

    QED Qunex One interconnect"

It sounds just like you, ol' bean - I don't think. (Or is there something you'd like to tell us?????)

    Damned fine system there Tones:)

And you know it would sound the same as mine to you anyway;)

I'm a bit concerned that the guy doesn't appear to have aquired any speaker cable yet though:confused:

Still, at least the mention of QED shows that he is paying some attention to cabling requirements:D

Surely any guy called merlin would have some magical way of getting sound to speakers rather than ordinary common or garden wire:D

Quick someone give WM his foo foo dust back so he can make some more experimental mains cables, saying that, now we know Omigas secret, maybe Nordost have nicked it to quell the competition:)

    Tones,

I am as TACTless as every other forum member these days. But I can at least console myself in the knowledge that I have had some tact before - unlike some I don't care to mention:D

Ha, when aTACT, you made a TACTical retreat, with honour inTACT (sort of). The sort of thing that doesn't atTrACT attention. Good move.

P.S. If you were duped, would it be conTACT?

Tones I didn't feel aTACT in this instance, just that it would be difficult to win the cable debate with so much educated opinion sTACT against me

But at least I could never be accused of being absTrACT. But don't you find the "r" atTrACTive somehow? Without it, the word is caused to conTrACT and might lose conTACT. On the other hand, with it, one can have a proTrACTed conversation, which its subTrACTion makes impossible, and this deTrACTs therefrom, don't you think? It becomes a mere disTrACTion.

    Hi all,

I am the Merlin that you speak of!

I am flattered, if somewhat worried about the discussion I have inadvertantly started.

As far as speaker cable is concerned, the B&O speakers have cable attached which is apparently impossible to remove.

Have you tried a blow torch or kango hammer, failing that cut it off,
    No such thing as can't:D

I could cut it off but then i would have no speaker cable! The attached cable disappears inside the speaker, and there seems to be no way to remove it. Would there be any point in cutting it and replacing the rest of the run with something else/better?

    Was only joking Tom

There may be a way to open speaker and rewire but probably not worth the effort, others may have other ideas though.

I don't think i'll bother! Anyway, it'll keep me out of the speaker cable debate for a bit, which can only be a good thing for my bank balance :D

Hi, Tom, welcome to ZeroGain, absolutely the finest group of hi-fi misfits on the web! I saw you as "Merlin" over on HFC, and seeing how different you were to the "Merlin" here (he has been through goodness knows how much kit), I couldn't resist commenting!
