Looking for a small/midi sized amp of good quality for a second system. What you got that you'd like to sell? Don't really want to spend any more than £200.

go on ebay.. get yourself a cyrus III and the jobs done.

they never pass £200... have tiny shoebox size.. but amazing sturdy build quality.

in my opinion its the only decent choice for style and size in your budget

Yes the Cyrus III was & is a very nice little amp - epecially when you hook it up to a PSX-R. I did own one a few years ago and then upgraded to a Cyrus Pre and Powers (since sold them too!)

I was really interested in trying something like an AVI, Meridian or the Musical Fidelity X80 - the budget can always be streched a little. Or I could be tempted to get a newer Cyrus amp to partner my aging (but still excellent) DAD7 & PSX-R. It just has to be small so it can be hidden away in a cupbaord.

ah well you definately want a cyrus IIIi then.. which is fully remote compatible with your other cyrus products... means when its hidden away.. the remote can be operated and received through the cyrus link.

its possibly even a III will work with that but i know for certain that the IIIi supports all current cyrus remote commands.

Anyone got one for sale? A guy over on the Cyrus forum has an 8 for sale for £350 and I'm very tempted.

    and

    www.exdem.co.uk

im sure you will find something in there.. but given your situation.. id stick with cyrus and get a IIIi, 5, 8 or likewise. all very good amps.

meridians are somewhat random though... i loked at their preamps a while back namely the 501 and 502.. and given they are from the same range and same manufacturer they couldnt have sounded more different.... 502 was warm smooth and rich with great scale and depth... 501 was bright brash ans positively harsh... go figure

I've just bought a MF X-80 - while it's a great amp, sadly, its not what I was looking for, I wans't able to test it with my kit...tho in some ways its better than my nad, I think I prefer the warmth of the nad, plus, it's eaiser to use in my AV setup...

I've only had this since last thursday - you can have it for the price I paid, 230, plus the cost of postage.

    cheers

edit - it somes with box, manual and registration form and it about 6 months old.

    cheers
