    .....plugs :MILD: !

    [Courtesy of the g/f :SWMBO:.]

Just received Tones' old Eupen and replaced the plug with a UK 3 pin job (Tones had a Swiss hex-plug on it.) and blow a goat - what a nightmare :knight: !

It's taken me 45 mins to get it just right and be able to screw the plug shut .
Certainly wouldn't want to have to put these bad boi's together on regular occassion :banghead:.
Hear's hoping it makes a diff.
I'll be comparing to an RA Yello and an RA Classic so I'll let y'all know :cowboy:.

Bassier than a Yello, better tonally than a Classic - in my experience. The Classic sounds like a loudness button when used in my rig!

    IME...

Smoother than a Yello, not quite as bright.

I like the way the husband (purple blob) doesn't alter his facial expression during the crack of the whip in the SWMBO smiley - stiff upper lip and all that Ha!

Not bad so far [The Eupen]; slightly weightier bass with no loss of timing.
Looks like you guys were right ;).

Just took delivery of my new HC amp (due to downsizing); a Pioneer VSX-2011. Fantastic and user friendly in every way but guess what ?

    Bloody captive cable:mad: .

It's a shame to see an amp that gives out 100w (8 ohms) x 7 with a weeny lead  . Next thing you know Krell will be flogging their top of the range amp/cooker-hob combo's with a captive.......oh - too late :D.

are we still talking about her arse?

I manage the odd duck noise in the shower..... but a proper whine - now we're talking.

Hell I'd give a Eupen to see that.

With Graham on this one, and I surey wouldn't want to start whole threads on loving wire.

And I would give Kylie one any day, so I clearly can define the difference between kylie and a bit of wire.

And sorry to be so obvious - it works a treat:MILD:.

Improved timing and :pRaT:. No real additional 'clarity'/'imaging' but more music.

It was cheap (cheers tones ;) and it works for me. Voila.

    One man's meat......:MILD:

Not true. Unlike some of the other pretenders to the throne of mains cabledom, the Eupen is much more than 'just a bit of wire' :p

I was annoyed when I got my 2011 and noticed the captive mains lead, you wouldn't expect it on a £900 product really.

It's one of the reasons I recently bought the Pioneer AX5i, it's got a detachable mains cable :)

I had the same problem with my Marantz SR7200. So i cut the cable off leaving about 3 inches. Attatched a male IEC plug (available at Russ Andrews among other places for less than £4 inc P&P) and attatched my Black Rhodium Supermains 13 and later the 25.

All I can say is taht it was a well worth exercise. The difference was (and still is) very noticable. Not that I'm good at descriptions but (here goes :shame: )definitley more airy, deeper and wider sound stage (especially with the 25) and more detail of individual instruments.

Only took 5 mins to do. A good 5 minutes spent me feels!

    More time for
