A friend told me about an offer with ryanair at approx 23.40 which was valid till midnight.

It would appear I now have return flights from Bristol to Milan for a grand total of................ £2!!!!!!!!!!!

That's all. No extra taxes, fees, etc...

    Bargain I'd say!

I've been to Italy several time's when younger, but never Milan.

I know nothing about the place.

    Any info appreciated.

Leave on thursday 7th, and back on the saturday.

    Expensive shops, litter and graffiti!

    Three of my favourite things!

I'm not planning on doing any shopping. This is obviously very last minute so it's not as if I've put any money aside.
Just the tourist thing and a couple of pizza's I'd guess.

Just wondering if anything of note might be happening in them couple of days?

What are the "Must see" sites?

    You not taking any bags?
Ryanair charge £40 to check in luggage.

Would be hand luggage only ? Watch the size, keep it small, even though it may fit into their basket before X-Ray 'Bristol' are being severe on it...and will charge excess .

    Enjoy :)

Ryanair: excess on hold luggage is £15 per kilo

The Duomo (cathedral) is worth a butchers. Also La Scala is nice, even if just to look at rather than get tickets (might be too late notice). Opposite la scala there's a really nice arcade (of the ancient architecture variety, not of the Scarborough variety!) which is nice to walk round too. Maybe if it's good weather you may get to see some of the lovely ladies that Arlequen stalks with his camera...!

Yeah, juat hand luggage. Only going for two nights and I generally travel light anyhow.

I think it said 10kg, which should be plenty for a couple of undies, socks, camera, and toothbrush?

May have a friend coming too, so leaves plenty of room for her hair straighteners, hair dryer, etc etc....

I don't even know if my passport is still valid!!!

How close is the airport to the city centre?

Go to the San Siro district, take the stadium tour and whilst you're there pop-by the Hippdrome to see Da Vinci's horse.

Go to the Da Vinci museum and see the antediluvian man; go to Santa Maria delle Grazie and see the last supper.

Go to the Duomo and stare in awe; take a few shots of the skinned man (forget his name).

Hang around the Duomo square in the evening; the restaurants are nice and it's a great atmosphere. Use the subway, it's dirt cheap.

I still wasn't sure if I was going to go up until the morning I left fo rthe airport! Friend was still trying to get time off work, and I wasn't sure about going on my own, but ended up doing so.

Got there and thought... what the f@#k have I got myself in for here? I'd not planned it in the slightest to be honest.

Found accomodation close to the central station (for easy navigation), dropped my stuff off, had a few drinks and snacks, then stuck my headphones in and set off.
Not knowing anything about the place has both pro's and con's. I no doubt missed quite a lot, but it's also great to just get completely (deliberately) lost and stumble across things.
I pretty much just walked about listening to music and taking photo's for the entire time. There are cafe's and bars everywhere so I'd stop for food/drink when I fancied it and maybe attempt to make some conversation. Lots of friendly people. Then as the sun set, I'd attempt to start finding my way back to the hotel.... stopping for more drinks on the way :D

At first I thought there wasn't really all that much there to see. But then as time started to run out, I realised I'd missed loads!

Really enjoyed it, and my only complaint was I could't find a pint of guinness anywhere! And I missed the old firm game due to the time of my return flight. I was reading the live text feed on the bbc site on my phone... and think I may have scared a few locals with my shouting when we lost 1-0!

    Where next?
