Do try DNM cables instead, cheaper and you might be very, very surprised...

WM has quit the forum (at least for the time being) if you hadnt noticed from the accuracy thread.

I'll answer for him. Replace the capacitors in the crossover with Mundorf Mcaps and the resistors with caddocks. You could go mad and replace the inductors with mundorf super dooper ones as well.

Replace all of the internal wiring with wanky wire (yes, it does make a difference). Tony's wire is the best to use (omiga audio website) or audiocom has some PTFE coated silver wires which will do as well.

    taz,

So what are you waiting for?

Re-wire them with DNM, or DNM like (solid core and low capacity), speaker cables and then also use these cables as speaker cables...

They are not expensive so if you don't like it, which I doubt, you won't loose much.

Do try this first and then you'll see...

    Taz,

IMO, DNM cables are not that great. PTFE jacketed silver wire would be a far better bet.

    taz,

You have great speakers. TD re-wired his MA's 20SE with DNM like cables (single solid core and low capacity is the secret...). After hearing his MA's I bought the Yammies and re-wired them with these cables. My speaker cables are also DNM.

All I can tell you is that I only have started clearly, I mean very CLEARLY, hearing differences between amplifiers with these cables.

I'm just telling you this because I've heard Monitor Audio Studio 20SE (similar to yours) re-wired with that cables and I liked them very, very much.

It's inevitable, I suppose, but someone had to ask: did you null test or otherwise measure the performance of these cables? :)

As good as the DNM cable is, and I used it for years, I felt that Goertz type cable (in my case Isolda) was a definate improvement.

    Maybe Henry!

NB. To all objectivists and sceptics, please lets not ruin Taz's thread with a discussion of the merits or otherwise of bybees, or indeed cables.

    Robbo,

I remember an in depth post by your good self a few years ago, where you worked on the crossovers in the 1SC.

Might be worth digging out, if you know where to find it in the archives?

I dont know enough about crossovers to help more with this thread.

    Taz ,
You might want to PM Tony , (WM) as I recall he did a lot of tweaking to his MA GR60,s . Internal cables , capacitors and one or two other bits as well , if I remember correctly.
FWIW , I rewired my Electra 905,s with solid silver cables ( had the cable spare after an upgrade and thought what the hell , might as well use it)
Whilst I,m not going to sit here and extoll the differences it made (real or imagined ;) ), what I will say it does is bring a little bit of "piece of mind", especially considering the low quality of some of the cable that is typically used inside a speaker.
