I have for sale my lovely monitor audio S6 floorstanding speakers.

They are in immaculate condition and are in warm beech finish.

They come complete with the base plinths

One grille is damaged (due to never being on the speakers and stored badly) but monitor audio can replace this if you need them.

the other grille and all tweeter grilles etc are immaculate. They also have all original packaging.

I was going to ask £350 for them but in light of the mising grille im selling them generously at £300 plus postage. (or collection from Edinburgh)

    Hey Shrink,

I'm not buying but just had a question for you.
I have Monitor Audio Silver 9 speakers and also use Cyrus equipment (CD8 and 8VS amp+PSX-r)
How do you find the cyrus/MA combination sounds?
Are you going to keep your cyrus stuff and just upgrade the speakers? Just interested as I have also been looking to upgrade (for some time now but havn't taken the plunge)

i dont enjoy the combination of cyrus and MA... its just too brittle through the upper frequencies. That metal tweeter does itself no favours. Im not a fan of metal tweeters though.

my intention is to move to Dynaudio which has a far greater synergy with cyrus

and your 8vs and CD8 are a lot brighter sounding than most of my cyrus kit.. so your problem is amplified even more... MA speakers definately wouldnt be my first choice in your system

Thanks for that - its what I suspected actually.
I'll probably go the other route and change the amp first.

    Good luck with the sale.

if you change the amp.. you will still be left with speakers that have a brittle metal tweeter and bloated bass.

nothing wrong with your amp.. its very good at what it does. Id get your speakers changed and keep your electronics as they are.

I wouldn't agree at all. MAs are excellent speakers and £300 is a bargain!

i was actually refering to his silver 9's lol.. which have a bass that really needs reigning in.

the silver series are interesting beasts.. smooth through the midband but quite bright through the treble.. however that said.. they sound stunning with arcam and MF stuff where their smooth treble and open midbands compliment them down to the ground.

MF and MA have always been a good combination.
