astrix's eye to eye hit the doormat this morning. if you like psy-trance / infected mushroom / shpongle / astral projection, etc. then it's a no brainer to buy - if you can find it.
    cheers

Bought that back in October - saw him launch that album at the Stratford Rex, on my first EVER rave - along with Infected Mushroom and BLT. I won't forget it in a hurry - Astrix RULES!

By the way - the version of Scientific Reality on there has been remixed (subtly) and appears on Full on 6 - Trance Waves as an even more banging version!

If you like that, you should try out X-Dream's Radio as well Julian :)

Tried to listen once to Prodigy, almost had tinnitus.
    What's a better trance listen?

I wouldn't class the Prodigy as trance. To me trance is cheesy wave your hands in the air fake ass Goa shite :D But hey, that's my shallow knowledge (and mindedness :D ) of the genre at work.

The prodigy are MOre erm...... experience was a bit of a "hardcore" thing, with the following albums being a bit MOre along the lines of a techno, pop, hip hop, breakbeat punk thing.

orbital "middle of nowhare" is quite a good album.
eat statics implant, abduction science of the gods etc, all good.

or even leftfields leftism (classic album) or rythme and stealth.

Orbital, now that sounds familiar. I have their Altogether, a mighty good mix. FFRR (Full Frequency Range Recording) claim works well here. IMO, my system's not that maxed out for this though.:(

I'm confused. To me *trance* is bongo's and digereedoos. I'm sure there's MOre to it than that, and as with any genre it'll have sub genres. And i'm sure there's one there for me. But a lot of what I hear called trance is cheese IMO hands in the air like you just don't care and all that.

I'd agree with leffield (and your other artists) being top banana. And leftism is indeed a classic. But is this what people class as trance?

Apart from the album mentioned at the start of the thread, nobody hear has actually named any trance after that in this thread. Prodigy, trance? Erm not quite. Their earlier stuff was a bit ravey, the middle album was more techno, and the last album was techno "punk" almost.

Thanks for the suggestion Julian, I'll check it out.

Proper trance is stuff like Jimmy Van M, DJ Tiesto, Underworld, Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen etc...

BTW, I am absolutley hooked on the Lone Deranger by Hallucinogen at the minute. That is their best album IMO, so dark and moody, its great stuff.

I've just bought the Karma Collection, Oakenfold - Bunkkam, William Orbit - Pieces in a modern style, and The Adventures of Shindig volume 1 (shindig being the best trance nightclub in Newcastle).

Leftfield isnt trance, its more downtempo electronic to me. And that "throw your hands up in the air" shite isnt trance either.

Well I seen that coming. Paul has promptly pointed out that not all trance is cheese. And i've just had born slippy playing. If this is what you class as trance then i'm a fan of it. Paul claims the last 10ish mins of this is what he'd class as trance.

This appeals. Never thought of it as trance but see where he's coing from.

MOre of the same please :D

OK, underworlds a bad example I suppose. I'd say stuff like Hallucinogen, Astral Projection and that sort of thing is mainly what I'd class as trance really...
