I'm having problems connecting a tape to my preamp. When I do the tape plays through the aux, and nothing is sent to the tape. I can just about hear the tuner through the speakers if it is turned up to full.
Are the Naims on boards like Quads, cause it sounds to me like someones removed a board or something.
Any ideas please help, I've had two conflicting answers from PFM'ers one suggests that this is the case, thanks Bub, and one contradicting him. Help
    Thanks

    Inside a 62

If it were me i'd remove the sleeve and check the wiring, if you can't see any problems, plug it back in with the sleeve off and "wiggle" the wires with some music playing. You may have a dry solder joint.

There aren't any tape boards in a 62, well..not in my model.

If you want a cheap service + they may be able to fix your problem.

    Try here!

I don't think I responded on PFM, as I don't know the answer.

    email Naim direct, they'll know.

Rang Naim, it caused great hilarity in the office, but they are slightly stumped to say the least. Have given me the task of trying to play the cd through the tape tonight to make sure there isn't somthing weird going on with the wire.
I think this may cost me!

I don't think it'll cost much to fix.

SOme of the cheap maplins cables are wired differently to the five pins on naim kit, as a result on one half will work, if you are using these types of cables it might be worth trying another

It was the bloody maplins cables. I'm going to save up and buy some proper ones. All the others worked on Yellow an Black??? The last set were the other way round. Bizarre

Well glad you found the problem, might be an idea to call chord.co also based in Salisbury they do a reasonably priced lead, and they wire it as per naim, (Well they are just round the corner)
