Does any one own one of these? How does it compare to the MJ 50? It does look very similar.

bearing in mind bk elec make 95% of subwoofer amps they more than likely have identical internal amps and the drive unit looks identical too

Well, lets just say that when I bought a large order from them last year - it came in a cardboard box with 'MJ acoustics' on it!

yes, ruark and mj acoustics appear to make the cabinets
rest seems to come from bk electronics. the back of that vita 50 is identical to the back of a mj pro 50

and the pro50 is a storming sub, especially for small rooms parterning standmount speakers

ooooohhh!!! as you'll read else where I'm in the process of upgrading all of my speakers (having just bought some kef Q4s, and are seeling my Eltax's... - but judging by your attitude the Q4's probably won't be good enough! :D )

and when I replace my centre speaker (funds allowing) I will buy the SVS...

    some people....sigh...

…exactly! No need to start bitching about what people have and haven't got.
Back to the topic - does these deals sell out pretty quickly?

The BK XLS200 has a good reputation on AVforums for performing well above it's relatively small price tag. Ths SVS is as yet an unknown quantity as no-one AFAIK has got one, past experience would say it'll be good but....

Also that SVS has only one phono input, no high level inputs and no built in low pass crossover so not much use in a Music system, it needs an amp/processor with bass management.

The BK deals do usually sell out quickly, but the XLS200 is a 'stock' item though sometimes there is a waiting list.

    never heard them.

i sold the eltax atomic 12" sub at work actually, and it wasn't too bad.

the BK xls200 is apparently on par with a REL Q200 performance wise and as someone pointed out, its a regular stock item. Those Ruark Vita subs will sell quickly. I'm tempted to buy a Vita 50 as i'm in student accomodation at the moment and not sure where i'm going to put my Logrhythm when i bring my hifi up @ half term

As i understood it (and excuse me for my ignorance) I can run a line level output from my pre (which has two pre-outs) to the line level input on the sub and then adjust the crossover point to get it sounding right??

djdstone-- yes , thats how i do it too. Run a stereo pair of RCAs from stereo preouts of my Plinius amp into stereo line ins on the subwoofer. I personally set crossover point to minimum (40hz on my Ruark iirc) and volume to just over half.

    Thanks Rory - I'm running mine of a rebuilt Sansui CA2000 preamp - fantastic pre-amp from 1979.

bearing in mind you'll need 2 sets of pre outs. 1 set to go to your power amp and 1 set to the sub.... the sub doesn't have line ins and outs
