I have many LP's that make me cringe. Risk Astley, Bee gees, Barry Manilow etc etc. In my defence, they were part of my seduction regime. Find out what they like, ply them with drink and put on their crap favourite music. Mind you, we are not talking about soul mates here. My wife has excellent musical taste, but plying her with drink results in her falling asleep.

Oi they aint nothing wrong with the Bee Gee's!

The most emberassing thing I have has got ot be Cliff Richard's We Don't Talk Anymore. It looks rather nice with my 12" Joy Division Transmission single.

Well, if we exclude my pretty much complete NOW series up to NOW 24 (including a couple of older (2, 10, 11) VHS tapes and NOW8 upwards on CD), I have some real howlers:

Small corners - Cliff Richard (well, WHY should the devil have all the good music? - always wanted this tape when I was a kid and no-one got it for me, so I got the vinyl second hand - rock on!)

Rhythm of the rain - Jason Donovan (got this as a "tree" present at christmas 1990 - my mum must have been "treed" when she got it ;))

...and, the A, BIG NUMBER ONE ITEM IS....

The (s)hits collection - Samantha Fox (You've not heard "Satisfaction" until you've heard Sam sing it! I got it for "(I surrender) to the spirit of the night" on a rainy Saturday in Reading for 50p; Ian Mott of Audio-T fame saw it in my record bag when I nipped in to Audio-T for some interconnects, and proceeded to play aforementioned track on the shop floor Naim system to a crowded shop! After the laughter stopped, people actually seemed to be getting into it - it rocked on that system!!!)

I suspect I may win this! I have a mint original 1976 pressing of 'Happy to be…' by Demis Roussos. My excuse is that it came in a small tub of classical LPs I bought to land about 15 valuable wide-band Decca SXLs, there was some other half decent stuff in the tub so I offered a tenner for the lot (the SXLs made about 130 on eBay!). It has remained unplayed whilst in my custody, though is obviously ideal for any 'Abigail's Party' moments that may arise in the future.

I have many records bought for their remarkably high cheese content (50 Guitars go to Hawaii / Hammond in Hawaii / Big Ben Banjo Band / Moog Party Time etc), but I am in no way embarrassed about them!

    Tony.

Well, who is winning? well I think even Donny Osmond,Demis Rousoss, Kenny G abd the rest have some artistic merit, albeit its embarassing to own,but..................Samantha Fox is a clear winner so far, having a big pair of jugs does not a good artiste make..............although i bet its a nice album cover

    who can bear Miss Fox?:)

I could "bare" her if she was straight :)

I know that Henryt has some classical music played on kettle drums on order - that might just inch ahead of Sam :)

If you been collecting this stuff long enough then you'll have a few skeletons in the cupboard. god knows i have.

if i was ever embarrassed of my record collection , which i'm not, it would be that i've probably 6/7 copies of get happy on vinyl. I'm a foster parent for them.
