I was wondering what Mp3 ripper members were using? I've ordered Nomad Zen NX Mp3 player and realised I need to start turning my CDs into Mp3s.

Exact Audio Copy - there can be only one....

CDex is also worth a stab, as its easier to use.

Plextools is also worth a look if you own a Plextor drive.

The rest, quite simply, dont hold a candle... :D

MP3 Ripper? Has to be EAC!

Agree - totally. Has to be EAC for ripping.

I use LAME on its own, however with Razorlame to do the encoding - I find it more flexible. Razorlame is a basic GUI for the command line Lame encoder.

The other thing I found REALLY usefull was a program called 'MP3 Book Helper'.

Its a brilliant ID3 tag editor - which will find all the details you need from the likes of CDDB, and then write them onto an existing album of MP3s - most invaluable!

Also use Exact Audio Copy; can be a bugger to setup, especially if you're not familiar with the process. BUt it kicks a$$ for actual copying.

I did use iTunes until an accidental encounter with the 'Delete' key last night. Wiped out about half of my 540 CDs that I'd spent weeks ripping to the hard disk.

As I've got all the original CDs, it's no great loss. I've now deleted the rest to free up space for other things. I couldn't be bothered to work out what was still there and what wasn't and it would be just too time consuming to put them all back on, anyway.
