Recommendations required for music lover bored of pop! I heard a Tony Bennett cd today and the backing band were absolutely fantastic...Ellington possibly...trumpets, brushed drumsticks, trombone, piano solos etc...Im not into improvised jazz, but like Sinatra, Ella fitz, Nat cole, Eva cassidy and some of the older stuff. Can anyone recommend CDs that are in this type, and have good use of instruments within?but are also well recorded or offer good sound quality? Most appreciated...I dont know where to start.......thanks

Eva Cassidy - Live at the Blues Club (something) is one of my all time favourites - Try Jools Holland Swinging the blues - Dancing the Ska or even anything from Jacques Loussier - You may even try some samba from Stan Getz. Even have a listen to Paul Simon "Hearts and Bones" Album - Its a great listen.

Jacques Loussier is part of a trio of musicians - Piano, Bass and drums. They generally play variations on Bach. His interpretations are quite unique but not unlike what Vanessa Mae or even Sky. FWIW I enjoy and have played his recorded music often and never tired of it. I have listened to his music for over 25 years now!! and still rate it very highly. A good start is the Cd "The Best Of Bach" - His Air On A G - String is awesome.

If you like Blues you should try Muddy Waters -Folk Singer- Its one of the best records Ive got. I have it on Vinyll, but it is available on CD. It has excellent dynamics and stereo imagery- the music is great too!
