Hi, this thread is for the Musical Fidelity A1000 Amplifier. I recently found out that the MF A1000 amplifier comes in at least two versions. The power amp in the first version has 0,22ohm resistors, a A370 power amp design (proportional current). The second version has mosfets in the preamp and the power amp has the same PCB as the F-Series amps with 0,47ohm resistors and a more traditional amplifier design. What do you have? Which version sounds best? For upgrades changing the rectifiers would be a good start, followed by better capacitors for audio. The contacts must be checked especially after a long distance transport and after working lots of hours at high temperatures. It gets really hot. Here are two samples of the first version, repaired, upgraded and tested: http://amp8.com/tr-amp/foreign/musical/mu-a1000.htm http://amp8.com/tr-amp/foreign/musical/a1000-2.htm Tomorrow I'll post some photos with the second version.
