Hi, this thread is for the Musical Fidelity A1000 Amplifier.

I recently found out that the MF A1000 amplifier comes in at least two versions.
The power amp in the first version has 0,22ohm resistors, a A370 power amp design (proportional current).
The second version has mosfets in the preamp and the power amp has the same PCB as the F-Series amps with 0,47ohm resistors and a more traditional amplifier design.

What do you have? Which version sounds best?

For upgrades changing the rectifiers would be a good start, followed by better capacitors for audio. The contacts must be checked especially after a long distance transport and after working lots of hours at high temperatures. It gets really hot.

Here are two samples of the first version, repaired, upgraded and tested:

Tomorrow I'll post some photos with the second version.

    Serial Numbers

You have made an interesting discovery, do you know which serial numbers belong to which version?

    Thanks for the info
