Hi, I have my Musical Fidelity Kw250S up for sale. This unit combines the (tube-based) preamp section from the Kw550, the DAC section from the Kw DM 25, a 250watt power amp section, a high quality phono stage, all fed by the built-in CD player, DAB tuner, and 3 digital inputs (2 coax, 1 optical - only 2 of which can be used at any time) so you can get the most out of the likes of a squeezebox or computer audio. It also has 3 pairs of phono inputs and a preout and a tape out. The original retail price was £5k and I spent over £1k on the full jsaudio upgrade which involved replacement of the pair of transformers with some very large heavy ones! John Sampson of JS Audio explained to me that the normal Kw250's preamp is powered by the power supply from the left power amp section and suffers from shearing, so a new power supply dedicated to the preamp was fitted. Other changes included 4 new valves and audiophile upgrades of the internal wiring, capacitors and resistors. Before upgrading it I was using an Isotek Titan which I felt gave a marginal improvement in sound quality. After upgrading the Kw the Isotek gave no additional improvement whether using it or not so I sold the Isotek. I think the upgrades made a huge difference, there seemed to be an improvement in every aspect of the sound but unexpectedly the most notable was in the musicality of the sound and how enjoyable the new tweak on it's character was. I have never had any issues with it, I would describe the condition as 9/10, I have the original box, manual and two remotes (one spare), and am looking for £2350 or nearest offer. Cash on collection from Sheffield is fine and am happy to send it via courier. I have plenty of trader feedback on ebay and on avforums I can refer you to. I will post some pictures soon. Thanks for looking
