my internet doesn't seem to be working

    google, ebay, avforums and my email account all come up as (in the example of ebay):
    search.ebay.co.uk could not be found. please check the name and try again.


    zerogain is the only site i use that appears to be working ok!! this is on mozilla and IE!!

    It sounds like a DNS error, are you using a router or a modem?

    I find using a proper hardware router seems to solve the problem of DNS errors as they store the IP addresses your frequently sites localy so you can never really tell if there is an ISP DNS problem.

    You find some sites work and some don't when you have DNS problems, I can't even remember the insides and outs of it now, and I have studied this in great detail :(

    What provider do you use?

    I had a problem like yours, but got over it by manually entering a proxy server address, rather than using the automatically detected settings.

    NTL have been doing some work lately I think. Not sure if that might have anythign to do with it....

    it was a localised Ntl problem with Lincs. Fair play to them they've usually got things sorted- this time was within 2 hours

    I had a pop up notice thing a couple of days ago informing me of upcoming local planned maintanance spread over various areas and over various days. Didn't you get this?

    Don't think there's anything planned for my area though.

    I've not really had any problems with NTL lately infact.
