Isaac - welcome to sunny (well ocassionally) Marden, i've been here just on 3 years. Great little place - Riverhead is excellent, though i get the feeling you'll have found that out by now....... Real ales are great - at least thats what my mates tell me - fraid i'm a larger fan, Philip also keeps one hell of a selection of malts. Oh - and dont forget the jazz festival in october - dunno if the music is your scene but the atmosphere is great! maybe see you in there for a pint somtime?
Chris - I haven't yet. Solicitors tell me completion of the sale of the house I am buying should be by the end of the month. I just came across this whilst searching for info on the area. Whereabouts in marsden are you?
Mount Road - just below the golf course if you know it. Where abouts are you moving too / coming from?
I do indeed know it. I'm moving a whole 100yds from you, depending how far up mount rd you are. I'll give you a shout sometime.
Have you tried the Church near you at the moment. You should they have cracking beer on there, all home brewed
Isaac - we are currently 300 yards up the hill, moving towards the bottom around march time when we finish our renovation project. Hope your purchase goes well. Do give us a shout, any excuse for a beer! Lord - are you referring to the Church Inn in Uppermill by any chance? i was raised in Diggle - i've spent a lot of time n money in there in times gone by!
It's crap isn't it Andy, all that neon We had our christmas do there, the food was good but the beer :chunder: Give me Smiles Brewery Tap any day.
The Brewery Tap is an excellent pub. Highly recommend anyone going to Bristol visits it, also the Bag O'Nails is well worth a visit and only a 5 minute walk from Park St where there's a few good record shops!
for any real ale officionados out that that fancy a trip out, Marsden has a railway 'station' on the Leeds - Manchester line. There is also The Sair in Linthwaite and the Head of Steam which is actually part of the railway station in Huddersfield. All very highly regarded locally and by CAMRA for their ales Could make for an interesting pub crawl.....
