just got myself a nad 3020a as a replacement amp, got it at a fair price of £40 in good condition. the power plug was all messed up had to change that but its fixed now. plug my amp, it turns on all seems ok.
plug my sony seperates in , they don't work. i have a tape recorder, a tuner and a cd player and actually the tuner never worked so i couldnt check that but the tape player and the cd player both worked and no longer do. whats wrong? am i missing something really obvious?

Any speaker selection buttons to press?

    Tape monitor button pressed in?

Can you try the headphone output?

I take it then that only the Sony amp was plugged in and it provided power to the other components ?

Not the end of the world......should be a simple matter to generate the correct voltage. A lot depends on the units quality......the Nad will stand some very good gear and not be put to shame.
