    Terrible news.

The loss of a wholly uk owned company of some 30+ years.
Yet to hear a focal speaker I'd buy..... oh dear :(

Still I hope it works out well for them both.

Wonder what will happen to Naim loudspeakers?

    Hi Robert,

I would not be surprised if that was the first area that changed.

I do think nothing will happen in the very short term.

Sad to see that Naim's independence has gone (since they are the smaller partner). I've never liked Focal speakers, nor Naim (but never had anything against their electronics). Still the larger combined group should enjoy greater financial security and marketing clout. I expect we'll see more mergers like this soon.

Whie I'm a little sad to see a 'pure' UK business eaten up, I don't think it is a bad thing for the industry as a general. The hifi industry is littered with small cottage industry (myself, for example), and I suppose some big companies with interest in quality audio can but only help bring good sound back in to the public spot-light.
