Just bought this tape deck 2nd hand for peanuts,it was serviced 12 months ago including new heads and belts and sounds great. The problem I have is that the record level 'sliders' are very sticky in use.I am not tec minded but is there something I can do or spray on them?(alcahol,wd40).I only paid £30 for it so reluctant to spend on another service or repair.:)

Use contact cleaner - WD40 dries out and can leave gunk behind that doesn't evaporate (apparently). I think Maplins sell that stuff.

Alternatively, take it apart and clean the sliders with cotton buds and headcleaning fluid (in small doses!) - got to be worth a go.

How the hell did you get it for £30? Nicely!
