    Hi everyone,
Just thought I would post a thread as I am looking for a good quality turntable for my own system. I am looking for a high-quality second-hand unit that has been very well looked after but I am not interested in any models from the list below:
    Linn
    Heybrook
    Audio Note
    Origin Live

I am actually looking for a charitable donation :D

Seriously, no more than £500, but I might stretch to more for the right item. I am not interested in any old collector/enthusiast type decks. Someone contacted me recently through another site offering me a Michell Transcriptor, while this is a classic turntable this is far outdated in terms of sonic performance (there is no way these sound better than GyroDec's,...get out of the past people!).

...but Julie Baby, how do you think that alot of the .wav, .mp3, .flac files get to the point where they are stored on media storage centres? They need to be copied from vinyl in the first place (especially as there is still so much material which has never been released in CD form), hence requiring a turntable!
    :p :D

Why not buy a Rega P3. A clasic TT for less than your budget.

Borrowing one at the moment from a friend. While it is a great deck I know I can get better for my budget, plus I want something constructed a little better.
Of course, I could always strip down my friends P3 and copy the plinth template and make one out of marble. Then buy all the various Rega upgrade components available on the open market,...now there's an idea!! ;)

I have a Project Perspective with Reson Reca Cart plus Project Phono Box for sale all for £500 no offers or £450 without Phono Box would retail at £1150 with Phono Box or £1000 without.
Would need to be picked up from Hertfordshire though.

    Cheers

What Tom said - it's still an absolutely storming turntable.

It'll give you enough cash to invest in a good quality cartridge too. :)

I've got a Michell Mycro surplus to requirements, sans arm and cartridge, if you get a 2nd hand RB250/300 it will come under your budget.

The matter of the Rega being a good deck is not at issue here, I have had lots of experience with this deck and with others above it's price-point and it certainly comes with most people's full recommendation.
I just expect more and know I can get it!

Hmmm, the ProJect sounds interesting (see my PM Curt). Think I will skip the Michell Mycro.
Yes Tom, the P25 would be a great option, especially as I love the Rosewood finish available. I could have had one of these ex-display recently for about £500 but it sold before I could get to the store :(
Thanks for all your comments by the way, great bunch on this forum ;)

I'd look for a Nottingham Analogue Interspace with a Rega arm, could be had for less than 500.

Theres loads of other decks in your budget, and I was going to list my 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice but I shan't! - the Interspace is the best for the money if you can find one. All IMHO.
