I have had a little magnetic accidents with my Eltaxes and now I feel they are time to go, they should have been upgraded a long time ago but they have been neglected.

I have around £60 to spend on replacements which means the second hand market, does anybody have any idea? I want them to be fairly warm but also with tight and punchyish bass.

    System:-
    Cambridge Audio Azure A640
    Marantz CDP 6000 OSE LE
    Project Debut II Turntable
    Rotel BX840 pre amp
    Accustic Solutions DAB
    Eltax Monitor III speakers

I want something which will dig well into the music if possible. Age is not an issue but size is, idealy taller than 35cm as I have a small room.

    Thanks for suggestions.

My music tastes vary from Simon and Garfunkel to the Clash and modern chart indie/pop stuff.

    A Pair of AR18s and a woofer re-foam kit.
Just about manageable for £60 and they have a direct, engaging quality missing from many speakers at any price.

I meant smaller than 35cm btw :). I prefer much the speed of bass to the depth. I will look into the suggestions so far. Thanks.

    Some cheap speakers for laptop
    Hey people,

I've been looking for a tv tuner recently and thought I might as well get some speakers to go with it.
I'm won't be using the speakers for loud music at all - only for normal TV volume. I want the speakers to be relatively cheap, under £20 ($40) and absolute max of £25 ($50) .
I was just wanting some suggestions of decent manufacturers and what to look out for my needs i.e. watt power .

Have you found some speakers yet amazingtrade? I've got some Royd Sapphires here (wirral). I bought them a couple of weeks ago for £75 so am looking for that back (be £90 posted if needed). Bit over budget but very good for the money. Fast tight bass and very open sound. Not in perfect nick cabwise, hence the low price. 30x20x19cm (hxwxd). I bought them to compare against my other, larger, royds - there seems to be no interest in those though so the sapphires are back up for sale.

What about JBL control 1s - nice little mini-monitors, tight and punchy but maybe not as warm as you'd like.

The best suggestion so far. AR 18s were my first speakers, just lovely.

having read various threads about his car woes - I'd say no....he'll careully look into it for several months before selecting a pair that will invariably break down within a week... :D
