One of sony's high-end jobs, not hugely popular outside of japan. Fixed pickup transport mech (the laser stays still, the disc moves). Built like a battleship, although the back panel is rather stock sony.

Said to make pretty good transports, with a little attention.

If i remember correctly it was a well reviewed and recommended player in its day, about 8-9 years ago I think. I think it cost somewhere around £400 new.

Ive got a XB930QS coming at the end of the week to be used as a transport with a nosDAC whilst I decide what to do in the long-term. I take it this transport wont be worthwhile upgrade on the 930? (which I could sell on easy enough).

Basically same transport mechanism as in 920/930 etc. Same adjustable filter (selctable from remote though) Surprised you dont remember it (mind you dont know how old you are!), was all the rage a few years ago at 500 squid. Would very much doubt it would offer much if any improvement used as a transport over the 930.

Im 26, only really got into hifi in the last 4 years so it might have been before my time. It seems to be alot for what it is and there's 4 days left, it just caught my eye coz I have a strange thing about top-loading cd players.
