    Hi Guys!

Im thinking of upgrading my Meridian 557 to a Krell FPB 300cx.
    My speakers are Jmlab 1027Be.
Anyone know anything about this amp.I only had a krell 300iL years ago and liked the krell sound.

    Cheers

Have you tried a Krell amp with the Focals yet?
IME the 1027s certainly benefit from smooth amplification.

With my recent listening sessions I would give the Luxman and Accuphase a listen

Dayens Ampino or Gryphon Tabu Century

I am starting a new thread on this when I get a moment but I just took delivery of a Dayens Ampino [with capacitor upgrade]. Actually I am only here this morning on ZG to promote some private offers I have. Included, and subject to confirmation for sale is my beloved Gryphon TABU Century that would also drive your speakers.

Anyway, I upgraded my speakers to Zu's Essence and ran into Srajan's suggestion about the synergy of the Ampino. Here are his reviews:

    http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/dayens/ampino.html
    http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/zu16/essence.html

After burning the Ampino in for 100 hours (Jimi Hendrix on repeat)... Well it does everything my Tabu does but with less body. In short, and knowing the Krell (and personally preferring a Pass), I humbly suggest sending your RFQ to Serbia...

    P.S.: There is a hardly-used Leben CS300XS (Mullard's!) for 2k Euro from reputable HiFiForum store on audiomarkt(dot)de

I just got off an email to Vinnie Rossi of Red Wine Audio that "the Gryphon has for some too much 'body'," that I happen to prefer. D'accord!

However, imo the Antileon is one of the 'best ever' amps made. My [and your] Tabu is a cheap trick compared...

The 'best' amp I have heard -imo- may be for sale (6k euros - ask?) is owned by my friend (here is a photo for his offered speaker system). It is Pass' Aleph (pre & main) modified by Nelson's friend Prof. Matuschek in Vienna (Vishays, etc.). I mean the full works with separate power supplies (extra boxes), for each component. Full blown XLR (if wanted) etc. etc. Nelson and Prof. Matuschek are friends, that is, Pass accepts his modifications as were they his own work. But, do not ask how much electricity the Alephs burn...

The "second best" amp I know is Klinger Favre's 'integrated' (I am predominately a solid state-fan). "Précision Studio" Amplifier - http://klinger-favre-english.blogspot.com/ - his English is a bit difficult.

The Pass can be viewed on www.audio-markt.de , go-to "audio-Markt" then: manufacturer "Avantgarde" - Trio (the bottom shelf and half of middle shelf). Peter speaks English [French and German].

Yeah just depends what speakers you are using..the XA are Pass's finest though.

I had the X350 before and prefer the smaller newer amp!

I am only able to say that I spoke with a person (employee) involved with NuForces's German marketing (as I too was on to NuForce) and based upon this exchange, I suggest you to avoid trials here. But hey, different strokes... As I am a Pass fan I suggest you look no farther than Pass but if you wish, well, how about Red Wines' 70.2 monos [if you prefer the ultra-slim Nuforce sound]? These RWAs with TVC and tube active Promitheus' should perform superb together on audition with your 1027BEs given a proper interconnect and speaker wires. Terrific speaker - I understand your 'amp' considerations. Again, can you get a Klinger Favre for trial? You may have your answer with this amazing Frenchman.

JMLabs use Lavardin for their demonstrations with some of their speakers, it would be a significant upgrade from Krell if you do not need too much power.

My accuphase worked amazingly with my old focal 1007 be and with my friends 1037's

It may be a bit beyond the talents of the 1027's but i would suggest that the lower end Accuphase amps (the E-350 in particular is the bargain of the range) make an excellent match with the focals.
