Has anyone heard these new beauties?.....

    More info here.....http://www.audiophysic.de/produkte/tempo2004/aufbau_e.html

Any prices for these yet? I understand 'the right note' in Bath are saying circa 2K, but no definitive pricing.

If anyone has heard them please comment, they certainly win on the drool factor IMO.

    cheers //lamboy

No way. Far too pencil-thin - they look like they'd topple if you breathed on them. :D

they certainly do.I looked at mine closely the other day when moving them, and the tweeter is covered in little bits of iron filings

the wife must have been sharpening her fangs,or i haven't a clue where these minute bits of metal came from

The tweeters on my MA GR10's had that when I got them. I just used a bit of blue-tak to remove most of it.

Ive had both the Xenons and the Tempo3 - Both were great, neither were 100%. I'm hoping that the New Tempos are a mix of the 2. My only concern is that they are all a little light in bass impact for my tastes. Eg, I love 'rage against the machine' turned up to 11 - and these spkrs felt a tad uncomfortable.

Maybe Im asking too much? Maybe Im looking at the wrong types of spkrs:(

    tony,
for you bass is a problem with all speakers ;) i reckon the only way you'd be satisfied is by strapping yourself onto a donnington monsters of rock sized stack of marshalls and turning it up to 11.
    cheers

There's a good reason why Paul Messenger begins just about any loudspeaker review by pointing out that speakers are all about compromise. It's extremely hard (= expensive) to reconcile some qualities with each other.

AP speakers have generally traded some bass extension for other qualities, including ease of drive. A brief listen to the new Tempo in Munich left me feeling the Tempo ups the bass a little compared to some older AP speakers but is still not the perfect choice for bass heads. Get thee an Isobarik and an ECS amp if that's what you're after.

The problem with you lot is that it's all about looks first, "waf" second, sound last. And you are soooo impressed by the latest "technology".

Thank you Doctor, I didnt know I had a problem. What can you prescribe?

Technology is good when it works, no matter how 'latest' it is. Dont be a luddite.

I'm all in favour of technology which works. It wasn't necessarily aimed at you, btw, more the box-lust guys. And I'm beginning to believe that the better something looks, the worse it will sound.

There seem to be lots of speaker manufacturers now making speakers with side firing bass drivers which enable the front baffle of the speakers to be narrower, and in many cases therefore more acceptable in a domestic environment. Assuming the cross over to these bass drivers is at a low enough frequency, do people have a view as to whether there is a problem with this arrangement? I mean is it a compromise or does it really not make any difference?

Oh, and good sounding speakers don't have to look ugly either ;) .
