its brilliant in places, bonkers in others, occasionally very beautiful.

might just be one of her best albums.

Homogenic is my fave, followed by Debut. Hope the new one is as good!

I found Medulla a bit hard work after the truly excellent Homogenic and Vespertine so I'm hoping she'll be back to that kind of form. I'm looking forward to it.

Listening to it now. Return to form so far... (track 2 shows the influence of Central African trumpet orcestras, and I'm looking forward to the Timbaland / Toumane Diabate track near the end).
While she is moving in new directions on this album, threre is also a sense of re-covering the ground she has covered on all her previous albums. A mix of old and new in other words.
    It's good, very good - but I'm a fan...

Got the double version but haven't played the 5.1 mix yet.

First thing to notice is the packaging! It's very nicely put together, but the only thing is, without the sticker on the front (which you have to MOve or tear to open the package up), the flaps have no way of staying shut!

I've played the album through a few times now and it's not what I was expecting. I've read a lot of it being back to her earlier stuff. In places yeah it's not as eccentric as some of the recent ones, but it's still far MOre experimental and interesting than MOst.

There's a few instantly catching tracks, and a couple that are a bit harder work.

All in all very promising so far. To quote joel though.... - but I'm a fan...

ditto, and that sticker pissed me off too. I'll let it slide as she is genius.

I think she's very talented but I just can't handle her voice anymore. Sounds too forced and kind of tweaked-up to make her sound different. I must of overdosed at some point ?.

I liked Medulla a lot but I've given the new one a couple of listens and it isn't doing much for me, I'm finding it distinctly unmemorable, apart from Declare Independence, which is memorable but irritating.

I like the idea of Bjork though - a cool Icelander making interesting records and having mainstream success, nothing to dislike about any of that. Plus I saw her in the flesh in a record shop in Soho a year or so back and she's dead cute in person :)

Amazing. Of course it looks really neat, but it's the idea of an instrument that allows for collaborative playing - and by people of wildly differing levels of ability/mastery that is the deep idea, revolutionary even.
I really enjoy Volta, but Bjork is feeding off previous work on this record. Probably one for the fanboys (that's me!).

I haven't got much to add to this discussion except to say that I think it's a fabulous album. I'm already a big fan, and she's the one act at Glastonbury that I'd miss the Arctic Monkeys for - shame it's scheduled that way.

I'm not much in to Medulla - that's despite the fact I picked up a vinyl copy for £5 from FOPP (love that store).

Anyway, really excited about seeing her next Friday.

Thank goodness I didn't have much to add! Or else I'd go on, and on.....................and on.

Just got the vinyl package yesterday. Earth intruders sounds very muddy and unclear....perhaps it's supposed to sound that way ......any opinions.

TBH both Homegenic and Volta, the two CDs I own of hers sound a bit unclear. Her voice seems to lack the upper half of the frequency range just a bit. The recordings are also super compressed on the CDs, maybe the record is not though?
