hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my cd player...I've been looking at the Nad range -

    C541i
    C542
    and the
    C521BEE

the first 2 offer 24 bit DAcs too...and can be had for less than 200.....

    any comments..??

    cheers

I've got the C521BEE which seems to partner my MF X-ACT DAC pretty nicely. Sound is detailed and pretty warm without being fatiguing. Bass is also pretty punchy too.

yeah, I was thinking that I wouldn't need my dac as my underatanding is that my existing cd player is 16 bit, my dac is 18 bit and the nad is 24 bit...so, I could buy that and sell my yammy cdp and dac...

There's more to digital sound quality than the number of bits. Remember the CD only has 16 to begin with. My money would be on the MF here.

Yep - I've definately found my CDP sounds more open and detailed since adding the MF DAC. Perhaps a touch less bass, but not massively noticable.

I wouldnt worry too much about bits. My dac is non-oversampling and only 16 bit yet sounds pretty dam fine. You've got a fine DVD there why not use that with DAC? Ive sold a 6000KI and a Sony 980QS recently and now just use a yammy dvd with the DAC. I have no desire to change this set-up.
