I have to say I'm fairly ambivalent on this one. It wasn't bad... could have been a lot worse, but at times it could have been better too. Others' views?

I missed the first 20 minutes but as for the rest, it was a bit too obviously aimed at the younger audience. I thought the scene towards the end where the Doctor was too helpless to throw anti-plastic (LOL) at the alien being (what was it called?) a bit pathetic.

As for the story line and the manikins coming to life, the least said the better :).

    Must improve IMO.

    I loved it.

It wouldn't be Doctor Who if it didn't have a high degree of amateurism.

i thought it was great. although they did labour the point when he was 'immobilised' by an auton later on, dramatic effect or hommage? i thought the latter and laughed but ymmv.
dev, the autons (plastic people) were from an old episode. afaict most of the 'baddies' are rehashed from the old series with few new ones, althiough the last human alive from next week's show looks cool - just a piece of skin stretched over a frame.
    will definately watch next week.
    cheers

    ... anyway ....

it's only the 1st episode, so i'm expecting the series to improve, 12 more to come.
    good so far.

All I can say is, that having thought all Doctors after Tom Baker to be crap, I was entertained by the new Doctor..

I was working and forgot to tape it, must try harder next week ( as I'll be working again ).
It seems to have got overall pretty good reviews, 'er indoors thought that the shop dummy thing was a bit pathetic but isn't that what Dr Who is all about. I hear they messed with the title tune but that Tardis still grumbles and whirrs like a good 'un.

the new theme tune is a bit pants, they should have left delias masterpiece alone. the tardis groans are more true to the originals which is a good thing imho.
    cheers

As in "Madam, I have never hit a lady. You leave me little choice."?

Strange the things that stick in the mind.

I thought it was OK - it doesn't seem right that the sets don't wobble though :)

Damn right on the theme tune music - the original was a masterpiece...

Moving mannequins though - creepy in the extreme. Even worse than the ones with no faces that M&S use...

Sounds like this could be worth waiting for. The ABC has been playing every (complete & existing) episode from the 1st onward for the last year(ish). Currently with Tom Baker, Leela and K9 so I'd imagine it will be a while yet before we get to the new episodes. Just have to wait, enjoy the oldies and endure bloody Colin Baker...

Yeah - forgot about that! Almost as good as the same stunt-bin's earlier appearance in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure :) I wander if he (the bin) either knows Dusty, or the stunt Goldfish from the Young Ones??? :)

IIRC - Leela was a fox :) K9 though - cool dog, but that was one DOG of a Linn cartridge as well - arf arf!

Well, looks like I wont have to wait too long to see this. One of my friends has a copy he scored from the internet and will be bringing it 'round tomorow morning. Can't hardly wait!

    Stuart.

PS - Dom, yes Leela was good, esp. in skimpy leather tribal outfit!
