Picked up the new albums from Underworld and The Orb whilst on holiday.

Both are real returns to form. The Underworld offering, "Oblivion With Bells" starts really strongly with the single Crocodile and the majestic "Beautiful Burnout" only to tail off to a lot of rather average fillers. Still worth it for the first two tracks IMO.

The Orb's album, "The Dream" is the best thing they've done in years. In truth, Tim Bran's influence is stamped all over it, and it sounds more like a new Dreadzone recording than you might expect, but it's strong throughout, has some wonderful Wobble esque bass lines, and will really wake up a decent system.

Both of these albums are also wwonderful recordings it must be said, only eclipsed by the recent Hot Chip Kraftwerk remixes.

Anyway, recommended to aging dance and dub fans everywhere.

    I'll second that.

I'll definitely check out underworld, every now and then they chuck in a slice of genius with the filler, e.g. '3 Months Off'. In fact I'll buy the Orb tomorrow too.

They (underworld) are playing again soon, Brixton tomorrow I think.

    P.S. Ageing?

    My house!
Just got The Orb newie here. Better than the last few but still stuck in a rut for me at the moment.

I don't even bother with Underworld now as they lost it for me after REZ/Cowgirl :( They also just cancelled their Belfast gig next month due to ticket sales I think.

    For new Electronica see:
    Bola
    Alva Nota & Ryuichi Sakamoto
    Marsen Jules
    I am not a Gun
    Deaf Centre

Some beautiful music and beautiful Glitch there.

I've only managed to play it through a couple of times, but "Mirrored" by Battles, is my newest electro purchase. Loving the sound of it so far!

Regarding the Hot Chip Kraftwerk remixes... is there an album or just the 12"?

New Murcof album sounds great too. Loads of well produced electronic music being released at the moment.

Just the 12" I think Mo - obviously also on CD single.

The CD sounds superb to my jaded ears. Funny how Belfast doesn't want Underworld. They've sold out three huge gigs in Japan already. It always strikes me that the British music scene can appear to be so fickle and fashion concious.

Agree, Zygote - Bola: Soup is rather good and Alva Noto had some experimental ambient on Insen with Ryuichi Sakamoto and also had a couple of tracks on the interesting glitch compilations Clicks and Cuts 1 and 2.

I'm listening to 'far away trains passing by' and 'strangely isolated place' by Ulrich Schnauss a lot at the moment, really like those albums. really good electronica IMO.

The most recent album (Goodbye) is poor though, it sounds like Enya.
