Yes I know - another anti-New Labour post but did you see this on the news tonight (http://www.itv.com/news/index_1844626.html):

The Labour Party Conference is embroiled in controversy after an 82-year-old man was bundled out of a speech on the war in Iraq for heckling.

Walter Wolfgang - who fled Nazi Germany in 1937 - shouted "nonsense" at Jack Straw over his speech and he was briefly detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act after he tried to re-enter the conference.

The manner of his removal has shocked other delegates and sparked accusations that Labour are stage managing the conference and stifling free speech.

Unbeliebable really. John Smith must be turning in his grave!

The Tories on the other hand would have made sure he didn't even get into the audience.

Have the Tories banned their own MPs from attending party conferences then?

I'm sorry but whatever your political persuasion, physically removing an 82 year old MP from his own party's conference and then refusing to readmit him on terrorism grounds belongs in the days of Oswald Moseley's Black Shirts meetings, not in a democratic policital party in the 21st century!

They don't go far enough with the smoking laws, I want a complete public ban including clubs and gig venues. However on everything else they seem to be inventing a law for everything.
