    could be Dean..

I know Kevin said last week that they've got the equipment and rights to make the vitavox compression drivers, horns and bass units, so I don't think it's that.

I suspect it's because a replacement is a ''product in development'' and has been for a while.

Threy are the last pair of speakers you will ever buy , they are the dogs danglies, I had a pair of B&W800d's before, and they aren't a bad speaker, but compared to my Alpha's, well there is no comparison, incredible, this chap sold his Avalon Sentinels to buy a pair of Alpha's.

Amplifiers,I am listening to a few now, I had an ASR Emitter with the B&W's and it is a very fine amp, I think valves will be more suitable with the Alpha's, Thomas Woschnick has a pair and he uess a KR 1610 ,sounds very good in his system, so that is a possibility, I have been listening to an Allnic 1500 LCR phono which is superb, so I am going to listen to their 300b push-pull, Berning has been recommended, the thing with is whatever you feed into the Alpha's comes out at the other end , I know it is a cliche but in this case it is true , the speakers are more like having a musical instrument in your home, than a loudspeaker, if youever find yourself in London you are most welcome to pop in, Keith. Price abot £25k delivered installed and optimised for your room, your listening position.

Something based around a 211 could be a very good option, Antonio it would be a pleasure to meet you so if you are ever in London let me know in advance and bring some records, regards Keith.

    Thanks,

I lived in London a couple of times, 6 months during 1973 and 3 months during 1998, plus many visits, love it...

One of this days I will try to stop in London on the way home to Lisbon...

i'm wondering what do you get when you feed such a powerfull amp into a speaker of 110db sensitivity in such a smallish room?

Mel, I would say the Cessaros sound very good, but that they have a presentation that you may or may not really get on with.

I've only heard them (at length however) under showroom conditions, so cannot make a definitive judgement, but I have heard a number of it's competitors under similar conditions and based on that level of exposure, the Cessaro would not be my PERSONAL first choice.

I would personally rank the larger Westlakes and Living Voices as being a step up from the Cessaro in terms of believability and musical involvment and I would have to say, that for sheer fun, the largest Tannoys appear to be a better solution. The Cessaro appears to be more of a cerebral experience, more of a hifi tour de force than I would have expected. It may well appeal to lovers of classical music - I'm not really qualified to comment there.

So yes it's good. But make sure you get to hear the alternatives. The Cessaro does not sound like I expected it to based on experience with TAD drive units.

The real efficiency is probably around 98 dB.

Thanks, I dont have enough $time$ for them, and wont have soon... ;)

When/if I have, of course I will listen, I quite like the sound of my fullrange open box speakers, even beeing lowish budget, with the Cessaro I expect a lot more of what I get now, detailed lifelike sound, maybe worst imaging...

My Cessaro's are 98db ( a true measured 98 ), that makes the amp slightly problematic , Thomas W is adamant you need 40 watts hence the KR SX which he prefers. Fair play to Mike he came over to Munich and heard the Alpha's at the show, where they sounded a pale shadow of themselves ( severe bass suckout and dragging an anchor with a poor passive preamp ) , imaging is superb btw.Keith.

40 watts is what I have now with my 96db speakers, also active crossover at 80hz to a subwoofer, I dont want less dynamics than now, but I expect the 22 watts from a much better 211 amplifier to sound at least as dynamic, will they ???

Image is perfect with a good recording on my system, doesnt get any better, IMHO...
