New Marantz SA-11SI

    Has any board member listened to the new Marantz SA-11SI

    It is supposed to be like an updated CD-7, only all in one box and also palys SACD.

    Also borrows heavilly from the SA-1.

    Anyone know if a price has been announced yet?

    I'd love to know more too... I think I saw a price around £2k UK mentioned but could not swear to it. Anyone know its official release date?

    From initial trade reports it is stunning.

    According to HFNRR release date was scheduled for September 2004.

    seems a little chord/MF to me.

    Im sure its a fine player though.

    I love it - it is a bit like Chord/MF but with all the garish machismo replaced by understatement and class. Excellent! Wonder how it sounds?

    i personaly don't expect too much from it.

    after i heard cd-17 ki and heard what my good pal says about cd-7......

    sa-1 it's probably isn't going to be.

    Keepin' it real, right here in Lawrieville.
    I heard the Marantz SA-11SI and it's partnering amp, the PM-11SI at a show last week. I only heard it in SACD and the system as a whole sounded quite good. However, as always, it is difficult to isolate the sound of one component against the other especially when being heard for the first time. Anyway, I must say that it does appear to be well built.

    Edited to add: I forgot to mention that the 'great' Ken Ishiwata was the one doing the Marantz SACD demonstrations.

    I also heard this one at a show. Sounded OK, and the look is very "MF-lite" if that works for you...
    The new Denon OTOH is a stunning piece of kit and could (almost) convert me to SACD (except there's no software I want that's available in SACD that I can't get cheaper on those wide-range black CDs)

    Alan - that eBay player is not the same as the one in joel's post. It's a DCD-SA10 whereas the one above is a DCD-SA1 and you can see that the front is quite different ;)

    Nope. That aint the one. It seems pretty unlikely they will ever sell this outide of Japan officially.
