Funny that. One US company (JPS) repackes Eupen Cable in their own livery (and WITHOUT ANY CHANGE aparently) and has been gathering great reviews:

Investigations by some people on AA revealed this $ 350 cable to be a standard Eupen item available at $ 30 per pack of 5 "dressed up":

Given that this clearly eliminates your objections, how about you see that you get a set of Eupen IMU-14 for test, a highly recommended approach as these cables are garanteed electrically safe and all that. As for dressing this and all the generic cables up as "high end" cable, please see what JPS are doing with Eupen and apply to all cables.
