If you are using the pre out form the Cyrus 8vs2, have you tried the M12s running from the built-in power amp? Cyrus amplifiers are excellent and the 8 should drive the Epos extremely well.
I used the pre outs on a Cyrus C6 for a fair while (first with a Cyrus smartpower then a Quad 909). Then spent 150 pounds on a second hand TVC pre - and preferred it. Then after 6 months or so started looking at, and auditioning, valve pres. Having not found one that significantly bettered the passive (to me) I spent 160 pounds on a new LDR passive. In my current set-up, I now prefer the LDR to the TVC. Passives are not for everyone, but before spending 1000 on valves it's worth spending 150 on a passive. (In my opinion).
