after a realy bad year last year i was forced to sell all my audio gear trivista ma gr20's etc, after saving for a while i have now managed to cobble together a new system
    marantz cd5001 ose
    marantz pm 7200
    B&W s603.3
    new dedicated mains spur
    monster AV mains block
speakers bi-wired useing both set's of speaker systems (system 1 for tweeters and 2 for bass)
cd sits on a marble plinth with spikes (original feet removed) and has been treated to a new homemade mains cable and internally damped with dynamat (all worthwhile improvements)
amp has also had the mains cable treatment
    speakers sit on marble plinths
cables so far are vdh d103 m111 9borrowed from my mate as the only i/c's i had lying around where qed quinex 3 (purgh)
speaker cable is musical love (sounds very gay i know) from maplins (n63ar) well made cable silcver plated etc
The sound so far isn't half bad for a system costing just under £1000 all componants where new or ex dem (speakers)
I still think the sound could be improved by small tweaks as money allows. The areas that are lacking to me at the moment are a little detail compared to my last system, bass is a bit light and finaly there isn't a lot of "depth2 to the sound although stereo is fine
i am loking at maybe modding the cd player with a new clock or maybe an offboard dac (any advice?) to improve detail and would like to know about any amp improvements any one knows that don't cost a fortune ;)
I mainly listen to vocal based music so the midrange is my key area, anyone done any mods to the b&w speakers? like changing internal wireing etc
any views ideas would be really usefull
    thanks

ok i have now moved things around center speaker is now on floor and amp sits on its own shelf below cd player which now sits on a big lump of marble :D

Now that hopefully your bad year is behind you, can you afford some capital letters?

    And I thank you.

    Whats happened ?

Have we suddenly had an out break of bad manners ....have you all been out in the sun too long ?

Why not try and be helpful ?

You have no idea that what you consider to be witty is in fact deeply insulting.

It is not just insulting Zanash but totally unnecessary, like I said earlier this is a hi fi forum where people can discuss all things hi fi
Not all people who post are expert typist's and some people can't spell properly does that mean that when they ask for advice or help they should be insulted or ridiculed ?
That is just the kind of elitist attitude that will make some people steer clear of forums like this and that my friends is the really sad part.

Is it bad manners to criticise bad grammar and punctuation?

I'd nominate the above outburst for the prize in bad manners. My attitude is that if someone can't be bothered making an effort to present their views in anything better than illiterate text-message code I can't be bothered reading them. None of us is going to get the Nobel Prize for literature on this forum, but it is courteous to make an effort. You do me a courtesy and I'll return it.

As I have already said not everyone has a degree in literacy or English language, correct punctuation, spelling etc. Also as it happens I have bad arthritis in my hands and typing is not my strong point, nor for that matter is punctuation and grammar. Half the doctors and specialist's i see can't write anything legible either but does make them thick? You have obviously read my post otherwise you would not have "stuck your oar in" defending a pathetic post. Again I say this, this is a hifi forum and if you want people to use this as such then derogatory remarks about their use of English will put some people off, if you are such an elitist that you can't get past a few mistakes and as such can't be bothered reading that persons post then fine, don't bother as far as i can see that's your problem. From now on anyone who would like to insult me for my lack of command for the English language could you please do it by pm rather than hi jacking a perfectly legitimate thread

I think anyone spelling Gary with an i on the end should be looking at their own grammar.

I would put in a smiley but don't now how.
