Curious how people's set ups compare.

    AMP - New
    Headphone AMP - New
    Transport - New
    TT - New

    Speakers - S/H
    DAC - S/H
    Headphones S/H

Pretty sure any upgrades will likely be made with S/H kit too.

just about everything I own is second hand - except for my dvd player - paid 330 (rrp 400) from empire direct when it first came out, and some sound cords that I got last week...

    my speakers were ex demo...

    edit - I won my sub too...from avtalk... :)

I haven't bought anything new for years.

Ex-dem occassionally but 2nd hand private buys (ebay, hififorsale, forums etc) mostly.

    In a happy place
Speaker - new (rarely come up s/h)
'Table - new (but personally imported from US at great savings)
Phono - new (couldn't find the one I wanted s/h)
CD - new (brand new model)
    Pre - s/h
Power - new now but previously s/h. Currently demoing both new and s/h upgrade options
    'Phones - new
    Cables - mostly s/h
    Support - homemade

Having done this list, I'm actually surprised at how much new kit is there as I'm not in the least averse the second hand.

Everything I currently use is 2nd hand, only ever bought one CD player and one pair of speakers new! I tend to go for well reviewed gear 2nd hand that I couldn't afford to buy new, and it's worked out great so far.

I think the best thing about 2nd hand is that if you don't like it you can generally sell it on without losing any money :).
