Yes I wonder why no one bought one. Perhaps the ludicrous price tag and the fact its largely pointless. From what I hear the sound isn't up to much either.

Why? For that money you could get a real TT, arm, cart, phonostage and some records.

 

For that money you could get a very nice real TT, Arm and Cart. They did get awful reviews, I should add that I have never heard one but that is because I cannot see the point.

 

Because its a really unique piece of Hi-Fi kit. I am not actually going to buy one and I dont even want a turntable. It is just desirable in the same way a real classic valve radio is, I think!

 

Wasn't the original cost of them new something like £25,000?

 

Possibly, they're now a bargain £9K.
Tenson: a vintage tube radio is nice to me because they usually look good, wood etc. and they don't generally sound bad either. To me that does neither. Surely to be desirable it should have actually done it job properly in the first place?

 

I heard it, it was shall way ordinary. Very sensitive to dirt and dust. Made a rather bland sound. That could have been the system really.
I'd suggest that anyone who wants to spend that much money does it elsewhere.

It uses analogue circuitry - its not digital. Just because lasers create a digital signal in a cdp doesnt mean they can only do that

I think these were developed with an "archiving" role in mind. Wet-clean the vinyl to within an inch of its life and then use the LTT to transfer the recording digitally into DSD,PWM or PCM or whatever digital archive medium you fancy.

I guess it might be useful in a domestic context if you have VERY rare & expensive vinyl that you'd rather not play using an old-fashioned diamond stylus, in order to preserve it's condition.

I spoke to the importer at the heathrow show.

Apparently it doesnt like scratched old records. That puts it out of the running for me. I want a TT to play anything I happen to put on the platter, scratched or not!
