I think these were developed with an "archiving" role in mind. Wet-clean the vinyl to within an inch of its life and then use the LTT to transfer the recording digitally into DSD,PWM or PCM or whatever digital archive medium you fancy.

I guess it might be useful in a domestic context if you have VERY rare & expensive vinyl that you'd rather not play using an old-fashioned diamond stylus, in order to preserve it's condition.
