Could any owners of this camera let me know if it has the internal red-eye correction that the more expensive Coolpix's do? Not the standard double flash thing but some sort of additional internal correction. Looking on the web I've been finding conflicting info. (Nikon's website suggests it doesn't, but some other places, like http://www.steves-digicams.com do...)

    Cheers,

    Martin

Can't answer your question, but IME the most natural-looking way to correct red-eye is in post processing (lasso/magic wand the affected area and desaturate the red channel, then darken the selected area and you'll get a good result with the original highlight).

Cheers for your thoughts Isaac. I've got a friend with a more expensive Coolpix (~£250 IIRC) and he's been fairly impressed with the internal red-eye correction, and not having to do this manually for each picture is tempting for a lazy so and so like me ;) . I expect you're right that your approach will give better results but I think for me the other might be acceptable. I'll think about it.
