Hiya, has anyone got any experience with NVA's Super Sound Pipe interconnects...??? I'm in the middle of upgrading my cables before changing my amplification. At the moment I use Van Den Hul D102 III hybrids which I like for their very laid back treble but if the NVA cables are noticeably better I may invest.

Might be worth just taking a punt. Richard offers a money back guarantee if not satisfied.

I would consider changing your interconects after (not before) changing you amplification.

Add the cable money to getting a better amp in the first place.

Mmmm, I'm listening to what you are saying.
The Dali's are fantastic. I've had them now for around four weeks and I still love them. Finish wise they are covered in cherry wood vinyl not veneer and they are seriously heavy. Size wise, I forgot to get out a tape measure before buying them...!!! They are over a metre high, big but not ridiculously big. Sound wise I guess I would have to say that they are warm, valve amp type warm. They have a gorgeous midrange with very accurate vocals and very good depth imaging between the speakers. The distance behind the speakers takes the artists out into the centre of our cul-de-sac. It's quite nice. Bass is very good with a totally effortless quality but a lot of that could be the Samson with 300Watts to play with. There is a good punch to bass drum and a nice low rumble where it's been recorded that way. They suit me very well. Impedance dips to 3.5Ohms at 205Hz but it doesn't bother the Samson. I paid 500 quid for them...!!! Brand new.
Regarding changing amplifier... I was going to go valve but I love the Samson and could just get a Creek OBH-22 passive pre. There is this niggle though that the Samson just isn't Hi-Fi...The alternative would cost me around 700 pounds which at the moment, I do not have.

If you like the Samson then keep it. Just don't go waste your money on cables. Please! :D

cheers for that - I'm just a bit concerned that at 4ohms if my class a 30w amp will be enough?

Mr Cat, the Dali's are rated between 30 Watts and 150 Watts. I guess your amp would be fine but may not have a full range of dynamics. That is one of the things that is keeping me away from valves at the moment. I was contemplating buying an Icon Audio Stereo 25 with EL34 valves for their midrange sound but also buying it ready fitted with Jensen caps and an HT delay. That makes the whole thing 800 quid and just 30 wpc. I would really miss the excess power that the Samson amp has.

Had a phono 2 - pretty decent sound though nothing out of the ordinary. Wooden casing lead to RF breakthrough in my neck of the woods. An acknowledged issue on the NVA info site for a few users despite some claims to the contrary.

A pot in a box is a pot in a box and I'd pay £50 tops for one - if the box was pretty :)

Sound pipes = low capacitance cable = 50p a metre at Maplin.

    Listen to James.

I got a couple of pairs of sound pipes to try- not bad but have replaced them with Maplin's OFC interconnect cable which I like.
Used the NVA plugs as they seem ok. Nuff said.

Steve, have you ever used the Neutrik Profi RCA plugs?

I find these excellent and the spring loaded outer connector means that you always make the earth connection first when inserting the plug which avoids those horrid accidental bangs and buzzes.

Not cheap but very good quality:
