Had one of those moments yesterday, the Townshend stopped spinning and started making little popping and clicking noises, and the LED on front was flashing on and off like a bugger. So I ponders the scenario for a second or two, and thinks to meself, it must be the power supply, so I wiggles the wire at the back. very scientific. It starts spinning again. I must be onto a winner thinks I, so being male I wiggles it again to confirm the diagnosis. Bang, big spark flies out the back and all the electrics go off, cept for the alarm, which starts sounding to highlight my stupidity. In fact the sound of the alarm is the second loudest thing making a noise as Mrs Summit was in the shower......

Anyway by now feeling a tad sheepish, I start to strip it down, take off the trough and all that, and it appears the brown wire from the mains needs resoldering. Some arcing and sparking has gone on, and a little white square plastic thing with two legs (electrical genius moi?) has got the brunt of it. It looks like my spark came from the bacofoil stuff in the deck being touched by the wire, and hopefully I've got away with. If not I may have killed the transformer, so will then have to consider my options.

Will know later this morning as I'm taking it to an electrical wizard friend of mine who isn't a total chimp with a soldering iron.

In the meantime, yours truly a humble twomp, crying into his keyboard hoping nay praying no serious damage was done

Cheers Isaac. I'll let you know. I'm going to try and get it soldered this morning. If that doesn't work I may just give you a shout. Would you believe it, as I picked it up, I knocked the cartridge guard off, caught the cantilever on my jumper and f***ed the cart. Now I really am pigged off.

I shamelessly stole it from someone on another forum.

    Cool, glad you found something.
Must come across soon and hear your improved set up. I've been tweaking the ML's myself and have got a much better balance. Next step is to persuade swmbo that bases underneath the speakers make sense
