Just an idea..... but I wondered if anyone can suggest anything.

Budget £100 for both speakers and amp, if more, then not too much.

I'd like a cheap amp and floorstanding speakers.

    Requirements:-

The speakers are to be used on either side of a CRT, so they MUST be magnetically shielded.

The amp MUST have a remote control, and a tape loop (to connect headphone amp), and at least 3 line level inputs.

I realise that sound quality at this price is not going to be world beating, but something that has a reasonable helping of bass and some semblence of quality would be nice. Its not going to be used for music all that much, mainly TV, but a stereo amp is more desirable to me as I'm not that interested in surround sound either.

Second hand? To be expected really - I'd be amazed if anything new had what I wanted at this price.

    Any suggestions?

There's a Cambridge Audio A1mk3 in the private sales.

Then you just need a pair of Mission 773e's. Or if they can't be had cheap enough, Tannoy Mercury M3s should be about the right price by now (the Missions are well worth the extra).
